GJS DILLON HELPS BROMSGROVE VEGAN LAUNCH NEW ZERO WASTE SHOP

October 2018

Worcestershire commercial property consultancy and Chartered Surveyors GJS Dillon has helped a young vegan start Bromsgrove’s first zero waste and vegan shop.

22-year-old Emily Attwell has opened Nature’s Intention at 2 – 4 High Street, Bromsgrove, B61 8HQ, taking a three year lease on the 577 sq ft ground floor shop unit.

The new shop sells vegan-friendly dried foods, including chocolates, beans and fruits, as well as eco-friendly supplies like sanitary products and bamboo toothbrushes.

Emily Attwell said: “I decided to go vegan after I thought about the environmental impact of what I was eating. Everything I was buying was in plastic. I tried to find a zero waste store near me and I couldn’t find anywhere, so I thought I’d just do it myself.”

To fulfil its mission of creating ‘zero waste’, Nature’s Intention sells only re-usable bags and jars.  “We’re urging all our customers to reuse what they can,” continued Emily, who previously worked for a food packing business. “The store has loads of glass jars for purchase, but we also encourage customers to bring their own containers too.  We won’t have anything plastic.

“The shop has been getting busier and busier since we opened.  All the food is popular, but the zero waste swaps such as bamboo toothbrushes and wraps (an alternative to cling film) are the best sellers.”

Emily fell in love with 2 – 4 High Street as soon as she saw it.  She said: “I immediately knew it was the perfect location for my business, got in contact with GJS Dillon and very quickly got a viewing with a lovely lady, Charlie.  It took about a month to finally secure the property, but once we got the lease document through the process was very speedy.  They’re a good company to deal with as they are very friendly.”

Charlie (Charlotte) Green, commercial negotiator at GJS Dillon which has a Bromsgrove office, let the shop unit to Emily on behalf of a private landlord.  She said: “2-4 High Street is situated in a prominent position fronting the main High Street at the junction with St Johns Street and Worcester Road in the middle of Bromsgrove town centre.  The property has an excellent display frontage which will help attract customers into Emily’s new business.

“It was a pleasure to work with Emily and see her launch such an innovative and eco-friendly business.  We wish her every success.”
