Property ownership worries? Help is at hand

May 2020

In common with many other property agencies, our working practices have changed at GJS Dillon in response to the Covid 19 pandemic. Luckily our remote working infrastructure was already fully established so we were able to adapt quickly and respond to market needs. One of our key priorities has been to ask ourselves ‘How can we help our clients?’ and ‘what can we do to support the wider community in Worcestershire?’

While the property market itself has been less active, our Asset Management team has been flat out, ever since ‘lock down’ was put in place. Led by Director Adam Jones, the team have handled numerous calls from tenants, suppliers and clients and carry out some essential site visits and inspections safely.

Adam says: ‘Understandably, the current situation has caused a great deal of uncertainty. We have had many enquiries from property owners previously unknown to us who needed help with tenant and landlord liaison. By encouraging and facilitating a frequent and transparent communication stream between landlords and tenants, we have been able to resolve a number of difficulties’

There have been other complexities for the team to unravel too. The Government’s Health and Safety guidance has been pulled together, digested and simplified to enable clients and ourselves to operate safely within the specified guidelines. Another issue for discussion has been insurance, with advice given on the importance of continuing cover on empty buildings.

Adam continues ‘ Perhaps one of the biggest area of concerns for clients and enquirers is their medium and long term property strategy. Some property owners have never felt the need to put a strategy in place but have since realised the importance of having one. Others have decided they want the Asset Management team to take over running the property for them as they were finding it too difficult to deal with in the current climate’

‘Inevitably, the economy will take a downturn over the next year or so but at GJS Dillon we are in a good position to provide advice on the ongoing health of the property market.’

If you are a property owner and have an Asset Management query, Adam and his team would like to extend the offer of advice and assistance if you need it.
